Zesty Zanzibar
So, you know how in scary creature movies, when the batshit crazy brave person, slowly climbs into the dark murky water, so they can swim to the other side and save the world from blowing up??
I’M NOT THAT PERSON!!!
Not a water baby at all! My swimming looks more like a dead floating goldfish… and dark murky water freaks me out.
Luckily for me, the waters of Zanzibar couldn’t be more clear. In fact, it was difficult to stay away.
Other than that, some more awesome things about zesty Zanzibar…
Pineapples, bananas, watermelon and coconuts.
Walking your ass off through the magnificent old Stone Town and getting horribly lost in its stony labyrinth.
Waiting to spot a Red Colobus monkey who decides if it wants to be seen or not. So flipping awesome to see free creatures! Jozini Forest for the win.
Tasting fruit you don’t even know how to pronounce.
Friendly locals yelling, “Jumbo,” and waving frantically as if you have been friends for years.
Pineapples, bananas, watermelon and coconuts.
A bicycle ride through a rural Nungwi village as blacksmiths hammer away at their hot iron.
Banana and Nutella pancakes for breakfast every day.
Sensory explosion as you sniff, dig up and taste the spices in their pure form at Tangawizi spice farm.
Amazeballs sunset watching as the fisherman bring in their boats at the end of a working day.
Pineapples, bananas, watermelon and coconuts.
Watching the sneaky kitty cats prowling for scraps at the fish night market.
Playing “fishy, fishy” in the unrealistically clear water.
Sailing into the unbelievably perfect sunset on a creaky traditional Dhow boat.
And did I mention pineapples, bananas, watermelon and coconuts?
